Dowry – Poppies

When my daughter was little, I showed her how to make a poppy doll out of poppies. Just like my mother Květoslava taught me. The poppy doll became a symbol for our installation – as a pattern, sign, shape, object, scheme, ornament, image, portrait, embroidery, toy, character, heroine, woman… in all different roles, forms and stages of life. It is actually a kind of time box in which gifts, messages, references and memories are concentrated. The "dowry" is a place for a set of "objects needed for the future" and "instructions for life" that a mother would like to pass on to her daughter – to give.
